Lord K Philipson of The Project Hate MCMXCIX

Global Domination: We at Global Domination saw fit to add your release, “Cybersonic Superchrist”, to our esteemed Class 6(66) hall of fame. Do you feel this album is worthy of such an honor?

Lord K Philipson: Not really. It makes me happy you think so but I hardly consider it a classic whatsoever. It was just the seed to what eventually led us to “Armageddon March Eternal” in 2005. That’s a fucken classic and a masterpiece to me. But “Cyber” was made some 6 or 7 years ago, I didn’t have all the ingredients for complete Domination back then, but it was a nice start and we sure tried. I like the album alot, even if the production is a bit too cold for my tastes. I remember it clearly, the creation of that piece. It’s some good memories.

GD: What was the ultimate goal for you while recording this album?

Lord K Philipson: I wanted people to get to hear something they were not used to. I wanted to show them that we have something else to offer than plain ABC-formula death metal. I wanted to record some insanely catchy and brutal material, and I think we did all of those things. The fact that people took a liking in it was a bonus.

GD: Name something of interest that you remember from the recording sessions.

Lord K Philipson: The evening when former vocalissa Mia was doing her vocals on top of J’s in “The swarming of whores”... The vibe in the studio at that exact moment was so… eerie. Complete and utter darkness, both in minds and hearts. That memory gives me chills, I had never heard something as wicked… Still to this day, that exact part is one of my favorites, ever. I also remember having to walk up from the cellar to the Pool and Video store located above the studio a million times a day to use their bathroom since there was no toilet in the actual studio, and we liked to drink beer. I also remember that during this recording I got a visit from Leif who ended up shitfaced while I was recording guitars. Leif is the guy who did the layout for “When we are done, your flesh will be ours”, our second album.

GD: If you could change any one thing about this album, what would you change?

Lord K Philipson: The overall production and the goddamned reverb on J’s vocals. The tunes and performances are excellent and needs no changing. With so many years passed since the recording, you are bound to find things you wanna change. The “logo” is quite boring as well. But the booklet and album cover goes well with the coldness the album represents.

GD: Why do you think this album means so much to those who consider it a classic?

Lord K Philipson: I think it represents something “fresh”. It really was different compared to anything else being released at the time. It’s packed with mighty fine material and there’s no denying it’s a neat piece of muzak, even if I don’t consider it a classic in any shape, way or form. But it’s a real honour that some people look upon this album as such.

GD: Finally, as an artist and musician, what special place does this album hold in your heart?

Lord K Philipson: It’s a nice first chapter in the book of Hate. It will always be special to me as I finally got to work with something I strongly believed in. And with really talented people. It’s a nice album. Cold, but nice.
